Before you decide to buy a laptop computer you should consider the spare parts and laptop accessories, the same as with your desktop computer. Some of these include parts which will make you enjoy your computer and be satisfied with it more and more each day. However,  some of them could be more necessary when something goes wrong with your laptop, as in that case you really depend on its portability. The most important piece of hardware, probably, is an extra laptop battery. If it happens that you are absent from home and you are not near an electrical outlet, it will be difficult to deal with your computer due to a discharged battery. The right solution to safeguard against this is to have a spare battery, which can prolong your computing time as well. So, it is really essential to have a replacement laptop battery for your portable computer.

Even though an extra power charger sounds like an extravagance, the results can be discouraging if your current power charger is lost or becomes defective. If that is a case,  you will not be able to recharge your laptop’s battery and you will not be able to work on your computer from an electrical outlet, too. A laptop’s power charger consists of the power adapter itself and its associated connecting cables.

It is not essential to have an external mouse and keyboard; yet, many laptop users would rather use them when they have plenty of work to do. They like them since they are easier to manipulate, make fewer typing errors, have the larger size and tactile feedback. They will use the laptop’s incorporated input devices when they are on the go, but plug in their external mouse and keyboard while they are working in their offices for many hours.

If you need laptops mostly for entertainment, you can use headphones, external speakers and upgraded CD and DVD drives. This is, of course, optional, but you can use them to enrich your multimedia experience with your laptop or notebook computer.

You can also think of getting a secondary monitor if your small laptop screen limits your effectiveness or if you would like to have a dual monitor setup. This refers to ultra-portable and very lightweight models which are equipped with small displays to minimize their overall space and weight. Laptop and notebook PCs usually have a video port to connect an external monitor. The settings for adjusting the display’s properties and your intended use (single or dual monitor setup) can be found in your operating system’s graphic’s display utility or control panel.

If your laptop’s hard drive fails, take into consideration an external hard drive or secondary internal hard drive in order to avoid a possible disaster. If they are of adequate size, they can also be used for storing your music and video files and making some disk space free on your primary drive.

Great external devices are a USB drive or a pen drive which allow you to transfer your files very easily from your laptop to your desktop computer. They are connected to the computer’s USB port and enable the files to be easily transferred between computers, using your system’s file utility software. In the past, operators used a floppy disk, but today’s USB drives are easier to swap between computers and can deal with larger files. Also, they can be used to secure sensitive data. And eventually, with a laptop case, bag or backpack you will be able to comfortably and stylishly transport your portable PC with you when you are on the go. In general, it is useless to have a laptop if you can’t take it with you.
